Early Years:

Edmund Patrick Jordan was born on March 30, 1948, at the Wentworth Nursing Home in Dublin, Ireland, and rose to prominence as Formula One’s most charismatic team boss. He has one older sister named Helen and is the son of Eileen and Paddy Jordan.

Jordan developed a form of pink disease when he was ten months old, and his family was advised by medical professionals to relocate from Dublin to Bray for more fresh air. He grew up in Dartry, south Dublin, and Bray, County Wicklow, where he spent the majority of his time. He grew close to his Aunt Lilian, traveling to see her at the end of each school week.

Jordan was given the nickname “Flash” as a child because his last name rhymed with Gordon. He received his education for eleven years at the Synge Street Christian Brothers School, where he and his classmates were allegedly beaten on a regular basis if they did not study hard enough.

Jordan briefly considered becoming a priest when he was 15 years old, but instead enrolled in a six-week accountancy course at the College of Commerce in Dublin and began working as a clerk for the Bank of Ireland in Mullingar.

After four years, he transferred to the Dublin branch on Camden Street. During the 1970 banking strike in Dublin, he spent the summer on the island of Jersey. He worked as an accountant for an electric company during the day and as a bartender at night. During this time, he became interested in kart racing for the first time and participated in his first unofficial races at St. Brelade’s Bay.

Personal Existence

Jordan is married to former Irish basketball player Marie McCarthy. They have four kids and have been married since 1979. The couple’s primary residence is in Ireland (where he keeps his private helicopter), but they also have properties in Wentworth, South Kensington, London, and Monaco (which is where he keeps his yacht.)
