Academic qualifications:

He was also not denied the right to a western education, which he began at St. John’s Primary School in Aroloya, Lagos, and later at Children’s Home School in Ibadan, both in Nigeria’s southwest.

The majority of Nigerian students believe that the quality and speed of education available abroad is superior to that available in their home country. Tinubu completed his primary and secondary education at Richard J. Daley College in Chicago, Illinois, before transferring to Chicago State University.

His time in America as an undergraduate student was not without difficulties, as the young and energetic Tinubu had to work menial jobs like dishwashing, night-guarding, and cab-driving to overcome the initial difficulties of school.

Tunubu and his mother’s dedication paid off in the end, as he earned a B.Sc. in Accounting in 1979. He also demonstrated his brilliance by graduating with honors from both of his colleges. He also received the Outstanding Student Award, the University Scholar’s Award, and the Accounting and Finance Certificate of Merit.

Tinubu was an excellent student who wowed his classmates, tutors, and even his mother, who had worked so hard on him. However, according to one report, Tinubu’s academic credentials are questionable.

Humble Beginnings Days

Even though Tinubu had completed his degree program, he did not return home and instead took a job in the United States, as the saying goes in Nigeria. He worked for Arthur Andersen, Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, and GTE Services Corporation, among others.

During his time at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, Tinubu demonstrated his intellectual prowess by participating in the auditing and management consultancy services of several companies, including General Motors, GEC and other Fortune 500 companies, International Harvester, First National Bank of Chicago, and Procter & Gamble.

Fast forward to 1983, and Tinubu has returned to Nigeria. He wasted no time in taking a job with Mobil Oil Nigeria as a senior auditor, and later rose to the company’s executive position, relying on the wealth of experience he gained while working in the United States.

He worked tirelessly to ensure the company’s growth, contributing his full quota. His efforts at the company were recognized and rewarded. He eventually left the organization as the company’s treasurer.

Some of his cars are:

Tinubu Land Range Rover

The most recent Range Rover costs around 35 million naira, and given the man in question’s status, such luxury is not out of reach. He has a fleet of these cars that he uses for a variety of purposes. He also has a team of security escorts who accompany him on the road whenever he goes out, and they use this car brand.

Tinubu Prado Jeep

This specially armored, 2.8L diesel engine, 7-seater SUV is an excellent choice for any person of prominence who wishes to travel in safety and comfort. Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the owner of this car as he uses it for security purposes. An armored vehicle of this same brand starts pricing at about N45 million, for a brand new one.

Other brands of vehicles he uses for personal or security reasons include

Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, BMW, Ford, Lexus, etc.

The enigma currently resides on Bourdillon Road in Ikoyi, Lagos State, and his property is valued at more than N650 million. He also owns Lakowe in Ibeju-Lekki, near Abijo. The value of the land in this area is estimated to be N80 billion. The land was apparently given to him for the purpose of developing a personal project.

He owns the Ikoyi Estate Foreshore. Chief Ahmed Bola Tinubu now owns this Lagos state government-owned property. Some of his other properties and houses in Lagos, Nigeria include Oyinkan Abayomi, Ikoyi, Asokoro in Abuja, Atlantic Beachfront, the Choice Property, Eleko Junction, and many more.

It’s difficult to say how many cars Chief Bola Tinubu owns for a man of his stature, calibre, and opulence. A man of his standing can afford to buy luxury items and the car of his choice.

A family man should have no more than two cars if he is not Tinubu. But Tinubu is not your average Nigerian; he is a man of distinction. He is said to own at least 30 cars of various makes and models, some of which he bought himself and others that were given to him by colleagues and friends.

Activities Opposed to the June 12 Annulment

Tunubu was a founding member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), a well-known pro-democracy group known to engage the military government in Nigeria during the military regime. The IBB regime had declared the election, which SDP candidate MKO Abiola had won overwhelmingly, null and void.

During the military regime, his political activist activities landed him in hot water, resulting in his arrests and detention, harassment, and even persistent life threats, forcing him to flee the country for his own safety. Knowing Tinubu is a fighter, not a runner, he continued to fight for the country’s progress and improvement while abroad through NADECO.

As Lagos’s 12th Governor,

Tinubu’s heart remained in Nigeria, and his desire to contribute his quota to the country’s growth drove him to return to Nigeria in 1998, following the death of Sani Abacha, the military dictator who had imprisoned MKO Abiola.

He joined the National Reconciliation and Development Committee as soon as he returned. The ruckus caused the Federal government to seize the funds meant for local councils in the state. Obasanjo’s plan was to ground the management of the state, but Tinubu was able to look for other sources of revenue to manage the affairs of the most populated Nigerian state.

Also, he was engaged in constant clashes with governors and other influential personalities of the People Democratic Party (PDP) which was back then the largest and strongest political party in the country.

The commotion prompted the federal government to seize funds intended for the state’s local councils. Obasanjo’s plan was to ground the state’s administration, but Tinubu was able to find other sources of revenue to run the affairs of Nigeria’s most populous state.

In addition, he was constantly at odds with governors and other influential members of the People Democratic Party (PDP), which was the country’s largest and strongest political party at the time.

The Bullion Van Scandal

Politics in Nigeria is widely regarded as dirty and rife with corrupt politicians. There is an exception, however, because there are good politicians. Money laundering, election rigging, and other corrupt practices are frequently associated with the perception that most Nigerian politicians are corrupt.

It’s almost a given that Nigerian politicians don’t have legitimate ways of making money, which is why most of them balk when asked to declare their assets publicly.

The same is believed of Tinubu, which sparked the Bullion van controversy, which occurred in 2019 when two bullion vans were spotted entering the former governor’s mansion on the eve of the presidential election.

When asked if the two-bullion van was filled with ballot papers? Tinubu responded that the vans were not transporting ballot papers, but rather money belonging to him and not to any government agency. He went on to say that the accusation is a conspiracy and that those watching his house must be evil.

Wealth Sources

Bola Tinubu is unquestionably one of Nigeria’s wealthiest and most powerful men. He is a wealthy man, and the sources of his wealth include business, investment, and, most importantly, political office, which has its advantages.

Tinubu is said to own several companies in Nigeria and abroad, as well as investments. Tinubu’s estimated net worth is $4 billion, according to rumors. However, this cannot be confirmed because Nigerian politicians’ wealth cannot be measured. It is assumed that they amass wealth through the state treasury. However, we have yet to confirm whether this is his current net worth.
