Career
Bloomberg began riding horses when he was four years old, in 1987. She began competing in 1989 and has won best child rider awards at every major horse show on the east coast of the United States. She began competing in jumpers in 2000. At the age of 18, she won the United States Equestrian Team’s (USET) Talent Derby in 2001. Bloomberg won the individual gold medal in 2003.
At the age of 21, she became a professional rider and won the Maxine Beard Award. She won the Metropolitan Cup and the Las Vegas Invitational Knockout competitions in 2005, as well as competing in the World Cup Finals and being a member of the winning Samsung Super League team in La Baule, France. She won the WEF Challenge Cup in 2007 and was a member of the USA winning teams in Hamina, Finland and Falsterbo, Sweden. Bloomberg contributed her first double clear nations cup performance at a 5* competition in Sweden.
In addition, she finished fourth in the Queen’s Cup at Hickstead and was the highest-placed American in the Dublin Grand Prix that summer. Bloomberg participated in the 2008 Samsung Super League Final in Barcelona.
She won both the Empire State Grand Prix and the Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix in 2010. With a double clear performance in August 2014, she helped the United States team win the Furusiyya Nations Cup in Gijon, Spain. In 2014, she won the first Central Park Grand Prix CSI 3. At the 2015 Winter Equestrian Festival, Bloomberg won the Adequan Grand Prix CSI 3*.
As the newest member of the United States Equestrian Team, she won team bronze at the 2015 Pan American Games. She won the Royalton Farms Open Jumper 1.4m class at the Hampton Classic Horse Show in 2016. She also won the American Gold Cup Qualifier as well as the Hermes Sellier Classic at the American Gold Cup. She also rode for and owned Team Miami Glory in the inaugural season of the Global Champions League in 2016.
After two seasons with Team Miami Glory, Bloomberg began the 2018 season as both a rider and team owner for the New York Empire. Bloomberg promoted the Longines Global Champions Tour Finals, which were held in her hometown of New York City in 2019.
Bloomberg currently owns several show jumping horses. Paola 233, Lilli, Cessna 24, Crown 5, Calista, Quibelle, Manodie, Cliff Z, and South Street compete in the M40 to Grand Prix divisions. Manhattan, Excelsior, and Starry Night are among her young horses.
