Wizkid early life and how it shaped up his career? | Net Worth of Wizkid 2022

He became interested in music at a young age, and among of his early inspirations were performers like as King Sunny Ade and Bob Marley.

Balogun attended church as a youngster, which influenced his love in music. Along with other religious buddies, he created a musical ensemble.

He was already building crucial relationships in the music industry and acquiring the tools of the trade from veteran artists at the age of 15.

He attended university after graduating from high school, but dropped out to pursue a career in music instead.

He then signed with E.M.E. (Empire Mates Entertainment), a well-known Nigerian record company. In 2009, when he was still in his teens, he started working on his debut album ‘Superstar’. His debut album was released in 2010 and it received critical acclaim.

Wizkid went on to win several honors for his debut in the Nigerian music business, including the Next Rated Award in 2011 and the Best Album of the Year in 2012.

After tasting unimaginable success with his debut album, he planned to tour London, England, where he had an army of fans. In 2012, he appeared in front of a sold-out audience at the HMV Apollo.

His next project was ‘Empire Mates State of Mind’, the compilation album of Empire mates Entertainment. Wizkid alongside several artists who appeared on the album, toured the US to promote its release. The artists also appeared in Canadian cities like Calgary and Vancouver.

Wizkid followed up his debut with his second album ‘Ayo’ in 2014. While Wizkid started working on it in 2012, the album was delayed repeatedly. However, it was still a notable step forward as the album featured a number of tracks that featured popular musicians including the American rapper Tyga.

That would soon be followed by further contributions with prominent hip-hop artists such as Drake, who provided vocals for the remixed version of ‘Ojuelegba’, a popular Wizkid single.

The remix went on to peak at the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100 while also becoming a popular hit on an international level.

Soon, Wizkid got the opportunity to collaborate with Chris Brown on ‘African Bad Gyal’, which turned out to be another hit single.

In 2017, he released his third album ‘Sounds from the Other Side’ and it included his prior collaborations with Chris Brown and Drake along with his new tracks that featured well-known music artists like Major Lazer, Trey Songz, and Ty Dolla Sign.

Notable songs from ‘Sounds from the Other Side’ included ‘One Dance’ and ‘Come Closer’ featuring Drake.

Wizkid’s musical style basically blends mainstream hip-hop influencers from Afrobeat, reggae, dancehall, and R&B genres. Throughout his career, he has tried to make conscious efforts to distance himself from the general hyper-materialistic lyrics of mainstream rappers in the past.
